Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant & Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick

The ever so famous Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant & Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick arrived on my doorstep two weeks ago. I couldn’t be more excited to try these two products as I’ve heard a lot of great things about them. This time, Elizabeth Arden has partnered with mixed media artist J. Goldcrown to create a limited edition collection of colourful, happiness-infused designs that celebrate the healing power of love. Just a glance over the packaging already made me fell in love with them.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

Product description: This award-winning skin protectant deeply moisturizes and protects skin any time, any way you choose. Its versatile formula goes beyond moisturisation, working wonders to shape brows, add shine to cheeks, soothe dry hands, smooth cuticles and nails, and more. Dermatologist-tested and clinically shown to hydrate and protect skin for eight hours!

This product was created in 1930 and it is considered a cult favourite among skincare lovers ever since. If you’ve been living under a rock and had no clue about this cream at all, let me just simplify it to you. It is basically a cream that can treat a lot of things, such as dry and chapped lips, skin peeling or flaking, sunburn, abrasions, and scrapes. If you are like me (easily distracted and clumsy), I accidentally burned my hand while making myself a toast – I used this to soothe the pain and redness, and they were gone almost instantly.

I love to use this cream on the driest part of my body; feet, knees, and elbows. Before going to bed at night, I will slather this cream and wake up with the smoothest skin. I also love the fact that it doesn’t only smooths out the skin, but also makes it feels silky to the touch. You don’t get that often with any other cream out there. Usually I’d have leftover cream on my fingers so I’d just apply some to my cuticles. You can use this on your lips too. Oh yes you can. This will act as a lip mask. If you have chapped lips, this will be your ultimate saviour. Apply some and leave it on overnight or at least an hour to feel the difference it makes. Plus, if you have a very dry skin or experiencing peeling skin, try using this as your moisturiser. It’s because of the product’s main ingredient; petrolatum will help to reduce the transepidermal water loss (TEWL) by forming a water resistant barrier on top of our skin.

Dispense the product in your hand and rub it between your fingers to melt it a little then pat onto your face to seal in all the moisture. But if you feel like this is too thick to leave on overnight, you can also use it as a wash off mask. Apply a thin layer all over your face, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes then wash it off with lukewarm water and proceed with your skincare routine. This cream has a lovely bright orange colour to it but fret not it will not stain your skin.

This cream has a thick consistency, almost like a balm. Despite the texture, it glides on the skin easily. It feels very rich and silky smooth too. A little goes a long way with this cream, so one tube will probably last me for a while. I know a lot of people are not big fans of the scent but I don’t mind it actually. It has a strong medicinal scent and I honestly think it smells almost therapeutic.

Full ingredients list: Petrolatum, Lanolin, Mineral Oil, Tocopherol, BHT, Salicylic Acid, Ricinus Communis Seed Oil (Castor), Vegetable Oil, Zea Mays Oil (Corn), Fragrance, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides.

Ingredients highlight(s): This cream is made of 56.8% of petrolatum; a rich emollient that can help to replenish, soothe and moisturize skin’s outer layer and it is considered as one of the best ingredient for dry to very dry skin. Lanolin is a great ingredient if you have dry to very dry skin. Mineral oil gets so much unnecessary hate and fear mongering within the beauty community. Cosmetics grade mineral oil is considered as safe and acts as a skin replenishing ingredient in skincare product. Salicylic acid or also known as beta hydroxy acid (BHA) is an amazing multifunctional ingredient but it is mostly known as the savior for acne prone skin. It helps to shed dead skin cells and penetrates deeply into the pores to reduce breakouts and blackheads.

Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sunscreen SPF 15

Product description: Give your lips a little extra love. This limited-edition Lip Protectant in collaboration with artist J. Goldcrown moisturises and relieves chapped, cracked lips, leaving them soft and smooth.

This moisturising stick with SPF15 helps prevent sunburn and relieve chapped, cracked lips due to dryness, leaving them soft, smooth, and protected. Its small size makes it the perfect must-have travel companion, for nourished lips anywhere and everywhere.

As someone who loves wearing matte lipstick, I often needed to prep my lips with a lip balm beforehand. This stick has been a staple in my routine now. I always apply this before going to bed and also before I put on my makeup in the morning. It leaves my lips feeling super smooth and soft the next day. I don’t have trouble with using the most drying lipstick now thanks to this little magician. And again, a little goes a long way so I only apply this on my bottom lip and then rubs my lips together to spread it out evenly. Plus, this also has SPF in it which is amazing. This will protect your lips from the damaging UV exposure and moisturise them at the same time. Also one thing that I think I should highlight here is the cap. I often bring lip balm with me and most of the time, the cap would fall off the tube and it’ll be a mess inside my makeup bag. But the packaging for this protectant stick ensures the cap won’t fall off easily with a visible click to the tube. It’s the little things like this that makes you appreciate the product even more.

Full ingredients list: Padimate O (8%), Oxybenzone (3%), Other: Petrolatum (30.2%), Castor Oil, Ozokerite, Glyceryl Rosinate, Cetyl Lactate, Lanolin Oil, Myristyl Lactate, Cetyl Acetate, Candelilla Wax, Carnauba Wax, Beeswax, Tocopherol, Acetylated Lanolin Alcohol, Microcrystalline Wax, Corn Oil, BHT, Methylstyrene/Vinyltoluene Copolymer, Fragrance, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides

Ingredients highlight(s): Padimate O is something that you don’t see often in skincare products. It is actually an active sunscreen agent that protects the skin from the UVB rays. Oxybenzone is a well known sunscreen agent. Ozokerite is a mineral wax used as a texture enhancer and castor oil acts as an emollient and moisturizes the skin. This product contains a lot of emollients in fact, like glyceryl rosinate, cetyl lactate, myristyl lactate, cetyl acetate to name the few; living up to its name as a moisturizing stick. Tocopherol which is a vitamin E is an excellent anti-oxidants to fights off free radicals that could cause damage linked to premature ageing. This ingredient is also in the eight hour cream skin protectant which is awesome.
