Hi! As you can see from the title above, I’m going to review the Kate Smoky Round Eyes Palette. Let’s cut the intro and get into the review!

The packaging is always simple when it comes to Kate products. Although it is a drugstore brand, I find their packaging quality is akin to those high-quality makeup products. Well, you can’t go wrong with a sleek colour like black. The eyeshadow palette comes in a small plastic rectangular packaging. What’s great is that there’s a see-through “window” where you can see the eyeshadow shades without the need to open it.
There is no mirror inside, but its compact size is definitely travel-friendly.
Colour/ Pigments + Texture:
The colours are more towards browns and semi-smokey, which are great for everyday wear. If you are more into shimmery looks, this palette suits you best because there are 3 shimmer shades and 1 matte shade to play around with. For those who prefer matte colours, I don’t think you will like this palette. If you’re into Korean or Japanese eye makeup, you may like this.
Now, the pigments. The colours are quite pigmented when I do the swatches, but when I applied on my eyelids, the pigmentation is in between. I like the gold shimmer colour the most, it’s nice enough to apply under eyes.
The shimmer colour works perfectly fine but the matte is somehow a bit chalky. The texture is quite smooth and buttery, but it is slightly powdery and there’s a lot of fallout, so beware.
This shade is still gorgeous, I’m just not a fan of the fallout. Maybe if you wet the brush, it might look PRETTIER! Or perhaps just use your FINGERS.
Let’s create an eye makeup look using Kate Smoky Round Eyes Palette.
First, make sure you have a clean base and draw your eyebrows. Then, I use shade ‘A’ and apply all over the lid. What I liked about these shades is that you can wear each of them on its own. If you watch any Thai drama, most of the actresses love using these kind of shades. I watch Thai drama a lot, so I studied their eye makeup too. LOL!
Next, I used shade ‘D’, which is the gold shimmer colour and applied only half of the eyelid because I’ll be applying the dark shades (shades ‘B) at the outer eyelids.
The last step is to apply a shimmery gold colour at the tear duct area. Apply your favourite mascara and eyeliner and the eye makeup is done. It’s that simple!
The lasting power is just so-so. Since the matte shades are already sheer, the shadow has faded. The shimmery shade stayed put just fine but it didn’t last that long.
There’s no unusual scent.
– Nice colours
– Great for natural makeup
– Travel-friendly size
– Wished it was slightly more pigmented
This isn’t the worst palette ever. It’s still good in its own right but if the fallout could be improved, that would be nice. This palette is definitely suitable for Asian skin tone and also Malaysian women with warm skin tone, but I don’t think there’s anything too special about this eyeshadow palette.
