Taking Care of My Underarm

Are you #teamspray or #teamroll-on when it comes to deodorant? Well I started wearing deodorant when I first entered high school and I bet most of you are just like me too? I started with the drugstores ones and up until now, I am using the ones from drugstores still. These are the ones I have used this year.

From left: Nivea Anti-Perspirant Extra Whitening Spray Deodorant, Nivea Anti-Perspirant Protect & Care Roll-On Deodorant, , and Smelly-No-More Natural Crystal Roll-On Deodorant. Hop on my armpit bandwagon and see what I think about them!

Nivea Anti-Perspirant Extra Whitening Spray Deodorant

This is one of the products I’ve been using for the longest time. Just like shampoo and body wash, deodorant is one of the products that we use everyday and we buy them really often so I tend to look for one with an affordable price tag that would not burn a hole in my pocket. Well this one only retails for RM23.72 on Hermo and it is 150ml so I usually finish it in about two months.

It is a classic one, smells of cotton and talc, much like the baby powder. Two sprays in the morning and it keeps my underarm dry for the whole day. I usually have it on for like, eight to ten hours before I get home and shower. My arms remain dry and even if I sweat, it doesn’t get tacky or moist so I do not have to worry about drenching my clothes even on hot days. However, the dry nature makes my skin feel kind of rough since it has a matte finish. If I have it too long in the day frequently, the skin on my underarm can get kinda rough and a bit itchy and I would need calamine lotion to calm it. For that reason, I tend to choose other deodorants and use this one for daily errands which would only last me eight to ten hours most before I wash it off.

In terms of whitening, I think it is working because I notice that it lightens my brown spot that I got from scarring after shaving. It says that it tightens pores but I am not sure how to observe that in my pores. But I will keep you updated in this aspect! My skin also feels smooth, matte and soft to the touch if not used for a really long time in the day. This one also contains no alcohol or preservatives which is always the main concern with deodorants. All in all, the pros outweigh the cons and I love this one the most and it is 5/5 for me.

Smelly-No-More Natural Crystal Roll-On Deodorant

Natural mineral salt 60g

This one is alcohol and fragrance free and I think that is one of the reasons why it is so popular besides the appeal of the natural crystal which is antibacterial and eliminates odour. I would usually use this one for the days when I know that I was going to be sweating a lot such as exercising, having an outdoor day, or going to the park/playground with my son.

This one keeps your underarm dry and when you are sweating a bit, it gets a wee bit moist but not itchy. And it dries off as you cool down. However for daily use, I still prefer my Nivea spray deodorant because that one is still better at keeping my skin dry when I am not sweating.
This one doesn’t feel tacky or sticky and it doesn’t stain my clothes. My underarm doesn’t feel as smooth as it does when I use the other two deodorants though. In terms of price, it is RM16.88 for 60g. This one is a 4/5 for me.

Nivea Anti-Antiperspirant Protect & Care Roll-On Deodorant

Aqua, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, Glycerin, Steareth-2, Steareth-21, Parfum, Panthenol, Octyldodecanol, Trisodium EDTA, Geraniol, Limonene, Citronellol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Linalool

This one has the best smell out of the three but sadly this one stains my white shirts a bit 🙁 Is this always the case with roll-on types? I love how it keeps my skin hydrated and not matte-kind of dry, living up to its protect and care name. Except for the staining-white-shirt thing, this one makes a decent daily deodorant. If you have dry underarm skin, this one will keep it hydrated and comfy. For sweaty activities or a long day out in the sun, this one makes your underarm really moist. Moistest of these three, and no it does not prevent your underarm from drenching your clothes. Despite all this, my underarm feels really smooth when I am using this one, and there is no uncomfortable feeling and no itch. The price is also really cheap, it’s only RM10 for 50ml on Hermo right now! So cost-effective, right? I really love this one if not for the fact that it leaves a subtle hint of yellow stain on my white shirts so I did not repurchase. A 3/5 for me.
