My daily skincare routine consists of 8 steps in the day and 10 steps at night. Yes, it’s a lot of work maintaining this Korean glass skin routine but it is definitely worth it when you see that natural glow! ;) While some days I occasionally skip double cleansing or ampoules, I have never skipped my toner. Too many of my friends completely skip toners in their skincare routine just because, apparently according to them it’s “just water”. To me, toners are an underrated essential to a good skincare routine simply because it kick starts the skin before it begins to efficiently absorb other deep hydration products.
If you’re a toner newbie, think of toners as a prep for your skin. Our skin naturally becomes imbalanced after cleansing due to high alkaline content from cleansers, so toners help to quickly restore the skin’s acidic vs alkaline levels. Toners also help give your skin a good revitalized refresher, shrink pores while reducing the penetration of impurities.
Benton’s Aloe BHA Skin Toner’s key ingredients are aloe and salicylic acid which helps calm, hydrate and relieve the skin while mildly purifying and exfoliating dead skin cells. With Sodium Hyaluronate and Vegetable Glycerin, the skin will not only be moisturised but the moisture will be locked into the skin. This toner also has pore reducing properties, skin barrier strengthening effects for a naturally lifted skin and BHA to reduce blackheads.

I’m a huge fan of aloe, how it smells, how it feels on my skin and all its great healing properties. I even use natural aloe vera as a quick morning mask everyday before my daytime skincare routine. So it’s definitely crystal clear why I bought Benton’s Aloe BHA Skin Toner! (PS: I wrote another aloe review for COSRX’s Aloe Soothing Suncream which you can read here) Despite my love for the thorny succulent, my review will definitely not be biased.
Benton’s Aloe BHA Skin Toner does not carry much scent (which I really appreciate) and its consistency is to me, is perfectly between watery & thick toners. Despite its consistency, it did not make my skin feel sticky and it actually absorbed well into my skin. I could actually still feel the moisture being on my skin after it had been fully absorbed.
Although aloe is strongly called out in its naming and skin relief properties, I didn’t really get much of that soothing feel it claims to bring. Don’t get me wrong but my skin does feel refreshed but feeling relieved would be a tad of a strong word for that. However, this didn’t bother me so much as I didn’t get the toner solely because of that reason.
On to the topic of BHA, blackheads are one of my biggest skin concerns since forever so I was quite curious to see if there were any effects on it. The toner is very, very mild, like there was no tingling effect from the BHA content, but I did notice a slight reduce in sebum. I often do my own extractions and did notice lesser sebum but blackhead count still remains strong and stubborn. But if you plan to skip getting a chemical exfoliator by killing two birds with one stone with this toner, I personally don’t think it’ll help as much.
Despite having mixed reviews, I did enjoy using this toner as I appreciated the hydration it gave my skin. Would I buy this again? I think I’d still continue trying other brands but I wouldn’t mind using it again because I like how it makes my skin feel supple and I didn’t get any irritations either.
