Review | Etude House Moistfull Collagen Eye Cream

(pictures and videos are all mine unless stated otherwise)

Etude House Moistfull Collagen line needs no introduction as the brand itself is so established. Though the Soon Jung line is popular with all ages, the Moistfull Collagen line especially their Moistfull Collagen Sleeping Pack is also equally well-known among women with dryness and/or anti-aging concerns, breaking through the market.

This line seems to be hyped about when it was first launched and I have tried my mom’s sleeping pack several times and it is really a close competitor to the Laneige one. I wanted to try more from this line so recently I got the chance to try their eye cream:

Etude House Moistfull Collagen Eye Cream.

Ingredients

As usual, the first thing I would research about before trying a product are the ingredients:

HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN, PROPANEDIOL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, SQUALANE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYGLYCERYL-3 METHYLGLUCOSE DISTEARATE, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, DI-C12-13 ALKYL MALATE, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAETHYLHEXANOATE, HYDROXYPROPYL STARCH PHOSPHATE, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, CARBOMER, GLYCERYL STEARATE, TROMETHAMINE, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, FRAGRANCE / PARFUM, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, WATER / AQUA / EAU, STEARIC ACID, PALMITIC ACID, DISODIUM EDTA, GLYCERIN, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, DIPALMITOYL HYDROXYPROLINE, HYDROLYZED LUPINE PROTEIN, MYRISTIC ACID, LAURIC ACID

This eye cream is free from alcohol. And with hydrolysed collagen being the first ingredient, you know Etude House is really not kidding when they name this line Moistfull Collagen lol.

So why hydrolysed collagen? According to incidecocer.com, hydrolysed collagen is the chemically chopped up version of the big protein molecule, collagen. It works as a nice moisturizer and humectant that helps the skin to hold onto water.  It is a great water-binding agent, hence the name, moistfull.

Other notable ingredient is squalane, being the fourth top ingredient, is really great for the under eyes as it is a superb moisturiser and is really popular in the market as a face oil, as it is known to be compatible with all skin types and skin condition. Whoa, sounds like such goodie right? Yeah that’s why I decided to give this eye cream a go.

It also contains lauric acid which is an anti-acne agent, propanediol, butylene glycol, glycerine, and many more. The ingredients list is quite long but I do not really mind as hydrolysed collagen and squalane being the top ingredients. Well, enough geeky stuff now let’s move on to the packaging shall we?

Packaging

This 28ml peach-coloured bottle feels so light and looks secure, and a pretty white spatula is included.

However it does not come with a stopper or extra lid inside, which I guess is because the lid is already heavy and screwed in a way that it holds on tight to the container.

Besides, the formula and consistency of the product is secure enough as to it won’t seep or leak out as it is not runny whatsoever so it does not flow easily. Thus for me I don’t have any complaints in this area as I find the packaging really fuss-free and pretty.

Texture and Smell

It smells really nice and pleasant with a distinct hint of floral. This has added fragrance, by the way.

This eye cream has a high viscosity as it looks and feels thick. It sinks into the skin nicely upon rubbing it and does not leave a sticky or tacky residue.

The white rich texture feels creamy and cooling when applied at night. I love how it absorbs into the skin (it takes time definitely, since the texture is viscous) beautifully without leaving a feeling like there is something gluey or adhesive under my eyes.

Experience

I have been using this for more than two months so while I can safely gather my thoughts on it, please note that things like wrinkle or fine lines really really take time to diminish using skincare. That is why people go to aesthetic treatments or laser treatments to treat them. Skincare can only go so far only as to ‘minimize the appearance of them’ and yes, anti-aging products and eye creams are usually quite expensive. Considering the ingredients and formulation, I think it is reasonably priced and besides, there are many other eye creams that cost double or triple the amount. Besides sunscreen, the essential steps to prevent wrinkles and fine lines are to provide sufficient moisture to the skin and adding collagen to help keep skin elasticity from losing its power.

Okay so back to the topic, I have been using this for two months plus. I don’t have any noticeable fine lines yet around the eyes but I am 31 years old so the time will come soon haha >_< I love how blendable this cream is, despite the rich and thick texture. It is easy to spread around the eyes and rub it in. Upon applying skin feels so cooled and moisturised. It does not sting my eyes at all, and it does not make the areas sweaty. Eye areas feel so fresh and well moisturised.

Using it consistently for two months made my eyes less puffy. I have a bit of dark circle, it’s not noticeable but there is discolouration there, but this cream does not seem to help much in that area. It does not claim to brighten dark circle whatsoever so I have no issue on that. Just stating the fact by the way, in case you are wondering about the matter. However I have only used this for two months so I will update on this soon!

What I can observe after two months are:

1. It does a great job at depuffing the eye areas

2. It keeps the under eye areas well moisturised up until the morning

3. It keeps the area firm

I am happy to report that I am a satisfied user and will definitely repurchase this. I believe that a consistent use of this cream is good for a 31 year-old me to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. My combination skin also experience no bad reaction to it such as formation of tiny bumps or itchiness or irritation or breakout. I think that this is an eye cream that would be enjoyed by all skin types be it dry or oily or normal. However this has added fragrance so sensitive skin  might want to patch test first or try a sample of it.

My rate: 5/5. Repurchase? Yasssss
