Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum Review

Pyunkang Yul first attracted me with their oh-so chic looking cobalt blue glass bottles which perfectly matches their focus on medicinal ingredients. Pyunkang Yul creates products that are gentle and safe for the skin while maintaining the balance of moisture and oil with the goal to achieve a healthy, glowy appeal.

While their products are relatively simple, it’s been known to be very effective, with the best part being it’s a cruelty-free brand! One of the key pointers I like about Pyunkang Yul is that they’re not a trend follower in k-beauty and don’t just take on a trending ingredient simply for it’s texture or scent.

As I was running out of serum, I decided to try Pyunkang Yul’s moisture serum since I had a great experience with their essence toner. First time around, I purchased from the brand because of the pretty packaging, but this time I read the reviews and I was convinced I wouldn’t go wrong.

Pyunkang Yul’s moisture serum is hypo-allergenic and contains barberry root extract which helps soothe sensitive irritated skin. Its key ingredient – coptis japonica root extract and olive oil maintains the skin oil and moisture balance, giving it a long lasting hydrating dew and healthy complexion. It’s lightweight lotion-like texture makes it good for people who are prone to enlarged pores, breakouts due to excess sebum and easily oily skin.

Ingredients list:
Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Butylene Glycol, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, 1,2-Hexanediol, Stearic Acid, Polysorbate 60, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Arginine, Dimethicone

How to use:

  1. Drip out a sufficient amount using the dropper.
  2. Gently massage the serum on the skin.
  3. Reapply on the dry eye area for an added moisture boost.

My review:

I actually didn’t realise it was a milky type serum as the clear type serum was my typical go-to. My skin tends to not cooperate well with milky type serum sheet masks due to it being too dense for my skin, so I was pretty surprised when this Pyunkang Yul moisture serum left my skin feeling perfectly hydrated without any heavy feeling.

Although I wasn’t really a fan of the scent (I preferred their essence toner’s woody scent, it’s amazing btw!), I got used to it after having it in my skincare routine for several days. I guess seeing the dewyness and really feeling the hydration made me less bothered about its scent. My skin also didn’t oil up as much compared to when I was using my previous serum. I now reach out to this serum day and night as I just can’t get enough of it!

I really love that it comes in such a huge bottle (100ml is big for serums) at such an affordable price point, making it accessible for skincare junkies alike. Even though it’s only been less than 2 weeks since I started using Pyunkang Yul’s moisture serum, I’m already planning my next purchase to try out their moisture cream!
