Battle of the Spot Creams: Benton vs Jumiso

Looking for a spot cream to zap away those pesky zits? Well, here’s a hot take on a couple of K-Beauty choices from Benton and Jumiso that aim to do exactly that! With the added benefit of key comparisons in true Battle* format, of course. 😁

Benton’s Spot Cream is formulated with 42% centella asiatica extract, 10% calamine, tea tree and peppermint, which help to actively soothe sensitive and irritated skin. Calamine powder also cares for oil-water balance and excessive sebum secretion. This easily absorbed pink spot cream cares for stressed spots, leaving skin healthy and clear. It can also be used for the whole face.

Healthy recipe with naturally derived ingredients. Free of volatile alcohol, PEGs, silicones and other controversial ingredients. Dermatologically tested.

Full Ingredients

Centella Asiatica Extract(42%), Aqua (Water), Calamine(10%), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate, Sorbitan Olivate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract, Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid, Asiaticoside, Madecassoside, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Propanediol, Sodium Gluconate, Oleanolic Acid, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Hydrogenated Phosphatidylcholine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sucrose Stearate, Xanthan Gum.

Nothing is gained without pain. AC Cure cream with Phytosilica may produce a stinging sensation during use. This sensation is attributed to the process of phytosilica, a botanical ingredient-based silica, which penetrates deep into the skin to effectively deliver active ingredients namely tea tree, centella and niacinamide. Simply enjoy the momentary discomfort for a clear and clean complexion.

Contains calamine and peppermint oil as other main ingredients. Contains phytosilica and niacinamide as other main ingredients.
Free of volatile alcohols. Contains volatile alcohol: Alcohol is listed near bottom of ingredients.
Does not contain salicylic acid. Contains salicylic acid.
Can be used both on small areas of the face and also larger areas - even the whole face! NOT advisable to be used on large areas of the face — please stick to carefully spot treating pimples only!
Does not cause any stinging sensations. High possibility of causing pinprick-like, stinging sensations.
Works best as a soothing cream over irritated areas of skin (eg. SOS for chemical burns or picked pimples) but does work alright as a spot treatment, albeit taking a longer-than-desired time period. Works best as a spot treatment due to the phytosilica working as a microneedle, but does take time, depending on the spot severity. Never to be used as a soothing cream.
Shorter ingredients list — less risk, better for sensitive skin types. Longer ingredients list.

Overall, if I were to choose, I’d definitely pick Jumiso’s AC Cure No Pain No Gain Spot Cream. While Benton’s Spot Cream is a sensitive skin sufferer’s dream as it has the ability to soothe inflamed acne and large areas of irritation, if I were looking for a spot treatment to purely target my pimples, Jumiso definitely takes the cake!

In fact, I’ve written a full review here illustrating just how effective the spot cream is. Take a look, if you’re curious. 😉
