The image of people putting slices of cucumbers on their eyes and masking isn’t new to us, right? It’s an image etched into each one of us that symbolizes relaxation, self care, pampering TLC, and more.

But now skincare has advanced rapidly that we do not need to go through the hassle of cutting cucumbers into slices and putting it on our eyes and struggling to keep them in place as they slide down our faces. Well move along now, cucumber slices! Eye patches are all the hype now! There is no need to lie down and control our movement like a robot to keep them cucumbers in place anymore, eye patch lets you feel relaxed AND free to move! Hehe
Okay so I have tried quite a few eye patches in the market and this one happens to be such a favourite that I repurchased it: Heimish Bulgarian Rose Water Hydrogel Eye Patch – it’s not only pretty being pink with the glitter and all, it’s also so worth every penny I spent!
Ingredients
Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Butylene Glycol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Propanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Sucrose, Potassium Chloride, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Calcium Chloride, Allantoin, Tripropylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, CI 77861, Carmine, Calcium Lactate, Adenosine, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Titanium Dioxide, Disodium EDTA, Ethyl Hexanidiol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chlorphenesin, Arginine, Fragrance
The star ingredient, Bulgarian rose water, is full of skin-benefiting vitamins and minerals, plus ultra-hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties (description from Hermo website). This contains a lot of soothing ingredients for the tired eyes: allantoin, centella asiatica extract, portulaca oleracea extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, and sucrose. It’s also rich with antioxidants which are tripropylene glycol, portulaca oleracea extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, and centella asiatica extract.
And do you believe it that there’s sunscreen in this? Yes, this has titanium dioxide but it is almost at the bottom of the list. Besides, some goodie ingredients in this include niacinamide for brightening, sodium hyaluronate for moisturising properties, and adenosine as cell-communicating ingredient.
Other than soothing, this eye patch is designed for anti wrinkling purpose, brightening, and also firming. This is to be used after cleansing and pat your skin dry, do your skincare routine as usual, and then using the spatula given, take out and place the eye patch under your eyes. The description states that this can be used anywhere skin needs extra care such as forehead and cheeks. The instruction says to take it off after 20 to 30 minutes but I have a habit of wearing it to sleep hehe.
Packaging
Comes in a sturdy jar with a pink lid,
an inner lid, and a spatula; a template packaging for any usual eye patch there is in the market.
There are 60pcs (for 30 uses) of hydrogel patches in the jar and they are sectioned into two: for the left and right eye each.
The lid feels secure and safe to keep the eye patches from being dried up. Well I have no complaint in this area as the packaging is decent and fuss-free.
Texture and Smell
Now let’s talk about how soft the hydrogel patch is! According to Heimish, the unique highly elastic hydro-gel material allows essence to fully absorb into skin for maximum benefits.
The hydrogel patch is not too thin and not too thick. Just nice for me.
The glittery pink patch looks so pretty and feels quite elastic, soaked in the Bulgarian rose essence, and feels so very cooling! Ahhh my eyes feel relieved and soothed right away. It smells of roses but it’s not a strong smell, just like sniffing a bouquet of red roses.
Experience
First and foremost, the adherence really wows me. It sticks on comfortably and does not slide down at all. I can put it on and continue doing the house chores – no problem! This is such a big plus point to me because I am a mother and of course, time for myself is quite limited as compared to when I was single so little things like this really make me happy. However, if I wear it at night I always find it all dried up on my pillow lol because we all toss and turn as we sleep don’t we? (that is why the instruction says to only wear it 20 to 30 minutes hehe)
Okay now let’s move on to its claim: anti wrinkle, brightening, and firming.
- Anti wrinkle: well I don’t have bad wrinkles under my eyes yet but even if I do, I don’t think a mere eye patch can solve that. I’d need lasers and surgery for that. What I think Heimish meant by this anti wrinkle claim is that this is a great prevention of wrinkles especially to those starting anti aging regime routine like me.
- Brightening: again, I don’t have a bad case of dark circles but i can see that niacinamide is the third top ingredient so I think this would work? I feel that I don’t have any worsening dar circle when using this but I also frequently put on my Etude House Moistfull Collagen eye cream every night so I don’t think that this is the work of this eye patch alone.
- Firming: Yes, finally, something I can report about! I am happy to share that this eye patch helps a lot in firming my under eye areas because it really decreases my puffiness. It’s an instant pick me up in the morning when I slept late and need to wake up early for something important. I would wake up and put this on as I get ready and it works just like that old cold spoon in the morning trick that was made famous by the beauty guru Michelle Phan!
Other than that, I experience no itchiness, no breakout, no swelling or anything. It retails for RM71 but I always get it cheaper during sale. Besides, I also love that this hydrogel eye patch is water-soluble so I don’t contribute to more plastic by using this. A great environment friendly product this is! And I have seen some beauty enthusiasts putting some of these patches into a bit of water in an empty spray bottle and using it as a mist so maybe you can try this out? I did not try it out because I love it for under eye and I don’t want to waste it out hehe. It is also worth noting that this contains no paraben and no components of dimethicone (if this is a concern to you).
My rate: 5/5. Repurchase? Yes! I have repurchased, and will do so again.
