Review | Wonjin Effect Water Bomb Mask

Wonjin Effect had me at “Water Bomb” as who doesn’t love and want plump, hydrated skin? I’ve actually never heard of the brand and only came across it because Hermo was having a really great promo on the masks. And well, as a mask lover myself, no harm in trying because who knows it could be my new favourite? 😉

Wonjin Effect Water Bomb Mask helps hydrate and unwind tired, dry skin. Its 3 simple steps (toner, ampoule and mask) can help your skin go from dry and dull, to plump and full. The toner works as a nourishment and brightening component for

the skin with its combination of eight different kinds of vitamins. The ampoule on the other note, tackles fine lines and dryness with its core ingredients of camellia oil, retinol, and ceramides. And lastly, the sheet mask focuses hydrating and moisturising the skin with hyaluronic acid, aloe vera extract, and bamboo water for plump, younger looking skin.

With a convenient, tearable 3 step packaging, Wonjin Effect Water Bomb Mask gives you all the benefits in this one easy-to-use, superfine sheet mask kit!

My Review:

Let’s start with Step 1: The Vita-Moist Toner.

It has a really thick and gooey texture, but it doesn’t feel sticky on the skin. Wonjin Effect is super generous with the toner amount because there was so much excess! However, I really disliked the scent as it reminded me a lot like glue, especially adding on to the gooey texture. And, obviously you wouldn’t want to be applying glue on your face. I was expecting more of a vitamin C kind of scent since it boasts to contain eight types of vitamins, but I was really disappointed. After my second try with the mask, I totally skipped the toner and used my own as I just couldn’t get past that glue-like smell.

Step 2: The Re-effect Ampoule.

It has a gel like texture but it wasn’t sticky! The ampoule was very hydrating on the skin and I felt like I’ve already completed the mask despite only being at step 2. Korean beauty brands have really redefined ampoules, creating super light textures while remaining equally as hydrating as serums! Gladly, there isn’t any significant scent in this ampoule and I enjoyed using it.

Step 3: The Water Bomb Mask.

Now in comes the star of the show. The sheet mask was soaked thoroughly with sufficient serum left in the packet to add onto the skin. Its thin sheet mask was surprisingly easy to unfold without losing its shape and it actually fit well on my face! It’s a really rare moment since most sheet masks I’ve used would still be slightly folded despite my best efforts in smoothening it down. My skin felt decently hydrated after the mask and there wasn’t any sticky sensation afterwards.

With its given promotional price since it was nearing expiry, I felt it was worth a try to use it as a cheap daily mask. I didn’t get any irritations and it did hydrate my skin, but I’ll probably all-round skip the toner!
