Best Gel-Cream Ever?! Kose Cosmeport Kokutousei Hydrating Gel Cream Review

Korean and western beauty has always popularised heavier skincare meant for their cold winters like creams – but what about the half of the world who don’t experience winter? I live in Malaysia and have combination skin. I personally have quite a few thicker creams like the Jumiso Have a Good Night Cream; but most of the time I want a lighter alternative that still gives me the hydration I need. Thankfully, gel-creams have been a recent popular skincare product!

Today, we’re going to be talking about a gel-cream from Japanese brand Kose Cosmeport – and it’s their Kokutousei Hydrating Gel Cream.

CLAIMS

The Kose Cosmeport Kokutousei line means brown/black sugar fermentation series. The line is famous for its triple power – which contains fermented brown sugar extract, fermented soy milk extract, and fermented hyaluronic acid extract.

It claims to be:

  • Triple powerful fermented ingredients which give the skin moisture from deep within
  • Leaves skin soft and elastic
  • Doesn’t contain mineral oils, fragrance-free, and no dyes
  • Same PH level as skin
  • 6 in 1 product – Lotion, emulsion, essence, cream, pack and massage

PACKAGING & PRODUCT

When you first buy it, it comes in a cardboard packaging full of Japanese words. Pictured here in the picture are the Kokutousei washing foam, hydrating lotion, hydrating milky lotion (which you can read my review here), and the hydrating gel cream.

The product comes in a classy looking 90g jar with a flip-up type lid. The lid makes it convenient as you don’t have to screw the lid off like most jars.

As you can see the product can be easily scooped out from the jar.

The product comes out as a watery texture with a gel-like consistency.

It is easy to spread it into the skin and absorbs easily as well. As it’s a watery texture, it is lightweight. It also feels soothing and hydrating, what I really love about this product; without being sticky or tacky.

How I apply this product is that I scoop a 20 cent amount onto my face and gently spread it.

As you can see in the picture above, the product easily spreads onto the skin.

After gently patting the product into the skin, my skin looks mildly glowy and feels hydrated, soothed, and refreshed! I definitely use this both in the morning or at night since it’s a lightweight gel-cream.

Pros.

  • Lightweight gel cream
  • Soothing, hydrating, moisturizing
  • Doesn’t feel sticky, greasy or tacky
  • Absorbs easily into the skin
  • Slightly glowy effect, supple skin
  • Can be used for both morning and night
  • Suitable for Malaysia, humid weather

Cons

  • May not be hydrating enough for those with dry skin

In a nutshell,

I definitely loved the Kose Cosmeport Kokutousei hydrating gel cream. It’s lightweight and versatile, great for the humid weather in Malaysia. I love that it also makes my skin bouncy, supple, and slightly glowy! I definitely recommend it!
