Maybelline’s Fit Me range are one of the most beloved drugstore cosmetics in Malaysia, thanks to their quality and value for money!
Today, I’ll be reviewing both the Fit Me liquid and powder foundation. Read on to find out which one suits you best!
My shades are:
Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation: 109 Light Ivory
Fit Me Skin-Fit Powder Foundation: 120 Classic Ivory
I got two different shades because I found that the powder foundation’s shade tends to be a little lighter than its liquid counterpart.
Ease of application
Powder > Liquid
In terms of application convenience, the powder foundation wins – it comes with a flat sponge in the packaging itself, which is great for on-the-go. However, it can be a bit hard to control the amount of product used, and the foundation can end up looking cakey or patchy. I personally recommend using a fluffy brush instead to lightly dust the product all over your skin.
For the liquid foundation, you will need to use a foundation brush or a damp blending sponge. It can be time consuming, which may not be suitable for those who like to do ‘express’ makeup in the morning!
Texture on skin
Liquid > Powder
The liquid foundation gives a very dewy, natural finish, perfect for ‘no-makeup makeup look’ lovers like me.
The powder foundation’s finish looks significantly more matte and sleek. If you love the dolled-up, photoshoot ready look, this one is a great pick for you.
Powder Foundation: Light coverage
In terms of covering redness and blemishes, the powder foundation does little to help. However, its densely packed powder and very buildable formula gives you the flexibility still play with a range of coverage – from a diffused layer to subtly brighten skin tone, to a slighter heavier base.
Liquid Foundation: Medium coverage
The liquid foundation does a good job in even-ing out skin tone, blurring pores and giving a very natural look. However, you will still need to use a concealer to cover up blemishes and major redness. In this test, you can see it blurs out the eyeliner quite a bit compared with the powder foundation. I recommend pairing it with a Fit Me Concealer that’s a shade lighter than your foundation.
Powder > Liquid
After wearing both foundations for an entire day (powder on the left, liquid on the right), the liquid foundation side appeared slightly oilier and exposed some redness underneath.
The powder foundation wins this round, but only by a little. It was slightly better at oil control, but didn’t have any significant difference as compared to the liquid one. You can still see some redness peeking out from underneath, and the formula also tends to cake as the day goes on.
So, which foundation should you get?
At the end of the day, it all boils down to your preference. Personally, I would definitely choose the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation. Despite having oily combination skin, this foundation still works well and has a decent enough coverage and lasting power for daily use. To increase its efficiency, definitely pair it with concealer and also setting powder.
