REVIEW | Best Moisturisers for Oily and Oily-Combo Skin

If you have oily or oily-combination skin like me, finding a good moisturiser that’s hydrating yet not too heavy can be quite a tough challenge! Over the years, I’ve tried various moisturisers and have finally found 2 brands that work wonders for my skin type without breaking the bank.

Best Moisturiser For Day: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

Ingredient list:

PR-016935 Aqua, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dimethiconol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Laureth-7, C12-14 Pareth-12, Polyacrylamide, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Carbomer, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Methylparaben, Benzoic Acid, Parfum, CI 42090.

First impression: Light and almost invisible!

This moisturiser is super duper lightweight! It has a cooling sensation and absorbs quickly into the skin without feeling sticky. It has a water based, gel like texture so it does not feel heavy at all.

Hydration level: 6/10

Despite being oil free, it surprisingly holds a lot of moisture and leaves your skin glowing, radiant and plump. It also smoothes skin texture and pores, giving you a ‘glass skin’ look that has a perfect balance of hydration without an oily shine.

Plus, it creates a wonderful base for your makeup and I found that it helps foundation and other products adhere better and longer on the skin.

Other benefits:

This moisturiser replenishes your skin with 2x moisture and repairs skin barrier damage caused by pollution. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, especially under sunlight, this moisturiser is a must buy!

Best moisturiser for night: Simple Skincare Vital Vitamin Cream

Ingredient List:

Aqua, PEG-8 Beeswax, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glycerin, Squalane, Cetyl Palmitate, Panthenol, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Bisabolol, Allantoin, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Serine, Sodium lactate, Urea, Sorbitol, Pantolactone, Lactic acid, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium chloride, Carbomer, Sodium hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol

First Impression: Affordable and Effective!

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve repurchased this item 😉 I love how Simple Skincare’s products do exactly what they claim to, without any extra frills. It also comes at a very affordable price that suits all budgets.

My only gripe is that the amount of product in each package is a little small and I have to replace it around once every 3 months. But that could also be because I solely use this product as my moisturiser, every single day.

Hydration level: 8/10

This product packs just enough moisture for a good night’s rest and repair. It coats the skin evenly, forming a protective layer to lock in toners, serums and essences. Best of all, it’s deeply hydrating without feeling sticky, heavy or pore clogging.

Other benefits:

The Vital Vitamin Night Cream is enriched with nourishing ingredients such as Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Vitamin F, Glycerin, Allantoin and Bisabolol, which all help with brightening, repairing and promoting the growth of new skin cells.

This moisturiser is also suitable for those with sensitive skin as it doesn’t contain any fragrances or harsh chemicals that could irritate the skin.

Overall, I highly recommend these moisturisers for oily / oily-combo and even sensitive skin, or for those who are just beginning their skincare journey and are on a budget. Shop them now at Hermo!
