Mamonde (meaning: my world) is a brand that definitely needs no introduction as it is one of the established and popular K Beauty brands here in Malaysian market. Among their sought-after hit products are the Rose Water Toner, Mamonde Pore Clean Water, Mamonde Ceramide Light Cream, my favourite Red Energy Recovery Serum, and more. If you noticed, a lot of Mamonde’s products are based on flowers, just like this new Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream.

The star ingredient is of course: the extract of blue chamomile, that is famous for its azulene, an anti-inflammatory ingredient known for its soothing property and its ability to reduce inflammation of the skin. It is also an antioxidant which means it has the ability to shield and protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. Click here if you would like to read up more on how azulene helps our skin.
Other notable ingredients include:
- Niacinamide which is great for anti-acne, skin brightening, and as moisturiser/humectant
- Madecassoside which is known for wound healing, skin soothing and antioxidant activities
- Adenosine for barrier repair and protection
- Cholesterol, one of the important lipids that can be found naturally in the outer layer of the skin. About 25% of the goopy stuff between our skin cells consists of cholesterol. Together with ceramides and fatty acids, they play a vital role in having a healthy skin barrier and keeping the skin hydrated.Apart from being an important skin-identical ingredient, it’s also an emollient and stabilizer. This cream comes in an interesting light/pale blue gel texture that is not so viscous and feels quite lightweight.
It spreads on amazingly and absorbs well into the skin.
It does not feel tacky or leave any sticky residue after. It is not oily or greasy either.
Oh anyway it smells pleasantly floral and yes it has added fragrant, if this is a concern to you. But on my skin it’s not irritating.
I also love that it comes in a tube which I like because of the hygienic point and it is so easy to squeeze. Besides, the transparent nozzle is so pleasing to the eyes, it looks so cool and I can say that it is the ‘in’ or current trendy packaging as I see Keep Cool and Axis-Y chooses this type of packaging too for their sunscreens.
How To Use
This can be used both in the AM and PM. After cleansing (or double cleansing, depending on your routine), put on toner (you can skip this step if you want), essence (optional), serum (you can skip this step if you want), ampoule (optional), eye cream (you can skip this step if you want), and then finally this Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream. Remember that the rule of thumb is to apply from the thinnest to the thickest, okay?
Now on to the most important part! My first impression is that the light blue texture is really pretty and as I patch tested it on the skin of the back of my ears, it feels so cooling. It feels deeply moisturising but without any heavy lingering feeling to it. I gave it a day and I experienced no breakout or irritation or itchiness or redness so I proceeded to apply it on my whole face.
It doesn’t make my skin sweaty or feeling like there’s a film on top of the skin. For my combination (dry patches with oily spots) skin, this fits well into both minimal and longer routines. however, being the lazy bum that I am, I always use this cream on its own and less layering with other essences or ampoules or serums. After cleansing, I love to put this cream straightaway after toner.
The area that tends to get redness the most is usually on the cheeks, especially after a day out in the sun. I also experience redness sometimes in the morning after my exfoliation night. This cream is perfect for both these situations and yes, it calms the redness. The claim is true! I also find this cream really soothing when I am on my period and my face gets a bit more oily than usual and acne sometimes comes visit.
You might be a bit concerned that this contains alcohol but it is not drying at all for me. In fact, it is also so moisturising and the moisture stays all night long even when I sleep with the air-condition on. It feels comfortable too.
All in all, I am so happy to have this in my soothing, anti-aging regime and what I like the most about this cream is that it is an all-rounder, I can use it on its own and it’s really great for my lazy or busy days.
My rate: 5/5
Definitely going to repurchase
