REVIEW | An Apple a Day with Kocostar Slice Mask Sheet

As the old saying goes, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”… and well, what a time to wish for that, right? What with the global pandemic and all! 🤣 So, in line with our current situation, let me introduce you to a sheet mask that at least tries to keep you thinking of eating more apples to keep your body healthy and illness-free!

Oh, and of course, it’s super fun to play around with too. 😛

KOCOSTAR’s Apple Slice Mask Sheet is a hydrating twelve-piece mask that contains 10,000ppm of apple extract, which is rich in vitamin C. Not only does it moisturise, but this facial mask also promotes shine, elasticity and vitality to the skin.

What it does:
Target parched skin piece-by-piece with these easy-to-use Slice Masks. The twelve individual patches can be applied wherever extra moisture is needed — face, neck, arms, or legs. KOCOSTAR’s Slice Mask Sheets use eco-friendly material, TENCEL fabric, which is extracted from eucalyptus trees. It has excellent moisture, essence content, and absorbency. The structure of TENCEL fabric is smooth and soft, making it non-irritating and safe for people with sensitive skin to use.

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Neofinetia Falcata Callus Culture Extract, 1-2 Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Centella Asiatica Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tremella Fuciformis (Mushroom) Extract, Allantoin, Betaine, PEG-6- Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Arginine, Cellulose Gum, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.

Folded sheet (backed by plastic) with individual apple patches cut out lightly and ready to be removed. Basically, 2 sheets of 6 patches (12 patches total) drenched in 20ml of clear essence.

The essence itself has a sweet, mild to moderate apple candy scent which personally reminds me a lot of childhood sweets, so it’s nostalgic. It’s bearable considering these are point masks and not a full on face mask. However, the scent does linger while masking, and only dissipates once patches are removed.

  1. Unfold the soaked sheet gently, take each apple patch (or slice) and apply them onto areas of your face*.
  2. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Remove each apple and massage any excess serum into the skin.

*NOTE: You may apply each patch onto any area of skin (including the body) where treatment/extra hydration is needed.

Sensitive (prone to redness and irritation), combination-dry, acne-prone and dehydrated.

Simillar to the Sunflower mask in KOCOSTAR’s Slice Mask range, this point mask is just really fun to use as you get to indulge your inner child – much like what people do with art, more or less. So I definitely don’t hold much expectations with these.

However, as I used this after not taking care of my skin properly, I was pleasantly surprised to find that these cute apple patches actually helped to sufficiently hydrate my dry, dehydrated skin! My skin looked less dull and had a glowy finish, perfect to follow up with makeup!

The only downside is that similar to the Sunflower mask, this does leave a tacky/sticky finish post-mask session. So I would definitely recommend spraying on a mist (or just spritzing on water) after to allow the tackiness to dissipate and to allow the leftover essence to absorb fully. Follow up with a light moisturiser, and you’re good to go!

🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 (4/5)

Overall, I still find this an enjoyable mask range to use, and the apple definitely brightened up my day enough to not warrant a visit to the doctor! At least, mental health-wise, which is always equally important. I do wish that the tacky finish would be non-existent, though!
