REVIEW | L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro Essence

While I was on a hunt for for a new skincare product to improve my skin complexion, I came across the highly reviewed and unique sounding L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro Essence. So, I thought I had to give it a try!

What makes it unique

This essence claims to be able to penetrate up to 10 layers of skin. It’s magic lies in its micronized technology, meaning its particle size has been refined into teeny tiny ions, hence the name “Micro Essence”.

The main purpose of this essence is to help brighten dull complexion, smooth skin and give a more plump and hydrated glow!

Key Ingredients

The two key ingredients featured in this essence are: Salicylic acid and Centella Asiatica

One of the most popular chemical exfoliants in the market, Salicylic Acid is a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid). BHAs are oil-soluble, meaning they can dissolve sebum in clogged pores, leading to brighter, clearer skin.

Centella Asiatica, on the other hand, is one of the rising stars in skincare. It’s a powerful antioxidant known for deeply repairing skin, boosting skin elasticity, and smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

Combined, these two ingredients work wonders for tired, dull or aging skin, breathing in a healthy, youthful complexion.

Texture and Smell

This essence has an extremely watery texture. And by watery, I do mean literally like running water from a tap. It feels very lightweight and definitely not pore clogging.

Scent wise, however… I was shocked by a sharp sting when I first opened the bottle. It smells very strongly of alcohol and fragrance. If you have sensitive skin, it might be better to stay away from this product!

Results & Honest Thoughts

When applied on freshly cleansed and toned skin, I could see a definite boost in moisture. My skin felt plump and almost ‘glass skin’ like, which was really nice.

I used this essence continuously for about 2 weeks, which was the amount of time the product claimed to be able to show a significant difference in skin quality. However, I didn’t really see any major improvements besides the momentary increase in hydration. In terms of skin texture smoothing and brightening, I still think other scrubs and serums might do a better job.

Would I recommend this essence? For me, it would be a 50-50. It is fine for you if you’re looking for an extra moisture boost, but that’s about it. Personally, the strong alcohol scent just isn’t my cup of tea!
