REVIEW | Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Long Lasting Facial Mask

I always read tweets and IG stories hyping up Dr Morita sheet masks and come across many positive reviews about the brand’s sheet masks from beauty and skincare enthusiasts of Asian Beauty #abcommunity. Those encounters really piqued my interest and finally when I got my HERGlam voucher from Hermo, I chose this box of 5 pcs of Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Long Lasting Facial Mask.

As usual, first thing first, let’s look at the Ingredients:

Water, Allantoin, Niacinamide, Acrylates/Vinvyl Isodecanoate, Xanthan Gum, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyalutonic Acid, Glycosyl Trehalose, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolsate, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Butylene Glycol, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Ulva Lactuca Extract, Enteromorpha Compressa Extract, Palmaria

This product is free from sulfate, silicone, essential oils, and alcohol (in case any of these is your concern). According to, this sheet mask is also free from EU Allergen and is fungal acne-safe. Before adding this into cart, I skimmed through the ingredients and was so glad that the ingredients list is so worry-free. Phew!

What made me happier was noticing that allantoin, niacinamide, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate as well as hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, glycosyl trehalose, and three types of ceramides happen to be the top ingredients. For first impression, this appealing formulation really got me sold. For those of you who are not familiar with this chunks of scientific names, they are all goodie ingredients! Allantoin for example, is not only soothing but also makes skin soft and promotes wound healing. Niacinamide, on the other hand, has been and still is a buzz word for skincare world: a super famous brightening ingredients that is also anti-acne, and helps skin to cling onto water and hold onto it so that your skin feels nicely moisturized. Panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, and trehalose are all ingredients that retain and preserve moisture.

How To Use

Here are what the instruction says on the pack:

  1. Apply on cleansed face for 10 – 15 minutes.
  2. Massage the remaining essence into skin until it’s totally absorbed.
  3. Rinsing is not necessary.

If you are familiar with the 10-step Korean skincare routine, you’ll know that sheet mask usually comes after serum or ampoules like this:

  1. Cleansing (first cleanser, and then second cleanser)
  2. Exfoliation
  3. Toner
  4. Essence
  5. Serum or/and Ampoule
  6. Sheet mask
  7. Eye cream
  8. Moisturiser
  9. Sleeping mask (optional)
  10. SPF (only in the AM)

So which one do we follow? The instruction on the pack or the 10-step Korean skincare routine? The answer is totally up to you. Which one would you feel most comfortable with? Which one gives you the best effects? Which one does your skin love most? Listen to your skin, I’d say.

As for me, it depends on what my skin is feeling at the moment but with this Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Long Lasting Facial Mask in particular, it generally goes like this:

  1. I would remove my makeup or sunscreen with cleansing oil or cleansing balm or micellar water (I rarely have time to put on sheet mask in the morning so I usually do midday sheet masking or night sheet masking)
  2. And then I will put on my favourite wash-off mask that goes so well with this sheet mask which is my favourite Axis-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack
  3. Cleanse my face with second (water-based) cleanser
  4. Put on any pH balancing toner that I have
  5. Put on Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Long Lasting Facial Mask
  6. Seal it off with a lightweight moisturiser or water cream
  7. Eye cream and lip sleeping mask if it is at night

Disclaimer: I know that according to the 10-step Korean skincare routine, I am supposed to apply the wash off pack (if you consider this exfoliation) after I am done with first and second cleanser but my skin tends to feel a tad bit uncomfortable if I don’t wash the Axis-Y Mugwort Mask off before putting on sheet mask.

Sheet: 5/5

The sheet fabric is made of natural silk. It’s thin and see-through, feels so soft and comfortable.

As it is really soft, Dr Morita includes a plastic separator so you won’t accidentally tear it when unfolding.

The sheet also feels breathable and does not irritate my skin or make it itchy whatsoever.

𝗔𝗱𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 4/5

It adheres well but not as amazingly as the bio-cellulose one (my favourite sheet fabric of all). The adherence is not bad either, it is in fact pretty decent, as it does not slide down easily.

I can still walk around the house doing chores without it moving. It grips onto the face well and makes sheet masking hassle free and enjoyable but I have used other sheet masks (SNP bio-cellulose ones) that really wow-ed me.

𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (5/5)

I love the fitting!! It covers my big face and wide forehead well, my eyes are comfortable without being covered by the sheet, and the sheet is quite elastic so I can pull it outwards for it to snug nicely according to my nose.

This really makes me happy as most Japanese (Lululun, for example) or Taiwanese (Naruko, for example) are really small for my big face.

𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (4.99/5)

The essence is amazing but it doesn’t get full marks from me because it is very drippy each time I take the sheet out, it get so messy on my vanity and my t-shirt can get kinda wet *sob sob* so yeah, I am deducting 0.01 mark haha.

Other than that, I love love love the consistency of the essence! Contrary to my expectation, the essence is very light considering that it is jam-packed with ultra-moisturising ingredients.

It absorbs into the skin almost instantly and comfortably. It only feels sticky at first on the hands but on my face as I take it off it doesn’t feel tacky at all, there is no stickiness or filmy residue for me.

Overall Experience (5/5)

I am not sure about people with dry skin but I am really satisfied by what it does to my combination skin, especially when I use it in a routine together with my Axis-Y Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack. Skin feels hydrated and moisturised without any slightest hint of heavy feeling. It doesn’t make my skin feel suffocated or sweaty or clammy at all. Skin also feels quite bouncy. The moisture feels long-lasting especially when I sleep and wake up with a plump, supple skin. I have used all five packs of this mask and it really lives up to its claim of providing continuous hydration to leave skin dewy soft and hydrated with improved elasticity.

My rating: 5/5

Would I repurchase? Yes!
