Sleek, slim, matte peachy-pink tube that would make any millenial sigh! Lightweight and travel-friendly. Has a glossy twist-off cap with a fine-tipped nozzle dispenser, which is initially covered with an aluminium foil when first purchased.

A little goes a long way, so dot across your face, a little at a time and build on coverage as needed. Recommended to use a damp sponge to blend the Caramel Beige tone with your natural complexion.

*TIP! Foundation can clog your pores. So, when you can, let your skin breathe and choose to wear BB Cream instead of heavier makeup, like foundation.

Mild sweet-chemical scent, familiar to makeup products in general. Overall, inoffensive and pretty safe for sensitive noses like mine!

Creamy, warm-neutral beige shade that is easy to spread and is as buildable as it claims, to a certain extent. Sticks on well to the skin and blends in okay, though please make sure you’re not sweating as you apply this, as it works best on dry skin. A little definitely goes a long way!

Sensitive (prone to redness and irritation), combination-dry, acne-prone and dehydrated.

I have a medium warm-neutral skin tone, as mentioned in a previous article.

These are my shade matches in base makeup:

  • NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Punjab
  • Laneige BB Cushion in #31
  • MAC ~NC25-30
  • The Ordinary Serum Foundation in 2.0YG / Coverage Foundation in 2.0N
  • Moonshot Micro Correctfit Cushion in #301 (a little light)
  • Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Foundation in Golden Beige

Now, let me preface this by mentioning that if you’re looking for something with high coverage, this is not it. As common with other BB Creams, the coverage for Face Republic’s Glow-Up BB Cream is pretty average (low-medium) as seen in the slider below where I apply about two dots over thick eyeliner. Do note however, that with more product applied, coverage can be built up.

Before After

Now, as it does advertise itself as a “natural, healthy coverage” BB Cream, I’m happy to say it does this very well! It feels quite light on the skin, as promised, and unless I’m in a rush and apply too much accidentally, doesn’t leave much of a tacky finish – obviously, the opposite happens otherwise.

However, as we must use face masks out nowadays, I should mention that this BB Cream is not transfer-proof at all. I’ve even had instances where – especially if I don’t set my face with powder – it would even transfer to my shirt collar! It’s also not really waterproof, and does break down once you’re drenched in sweat under the Malaysian heat. Pros to this though is that it comes off easily with even micellar/cleansing water! So, gotta pick your poison, I guess.

Overall, the Face Republic Glow-Up BB Cream is a good, affordable choice if you’re on a budget and fall into the medium-tan skin tone spectrum. I also like how there’s no offensive strong scent to it. But I definitely would have enjoyed it more if it was more transfer-resistant and came in more shades than just this one. Though I do appreciate the move towards catering to medium – and not just light/fair! – skin tones.
