REVIEW | Barulab 7 in 1 Total Solution Black Clay Mask

Have you tried a clay mask in a sheet mask form? Well it’s very new to me too so sit back, relax, and let me review it for you before you decide whether to try it or not!

A little bit about the brand

Barulab began in 2002 with the launch of Korea’s first beauty anti-aging center FARBE. Through procedures and treatment, the brand has garnered what they called “unrivalled” knowledge and expertise about skin protection and reparation, with an average of 900 customers per month, totaling over 100.000 customers over 17 years.

BARULAB believes that we have to start with a clean skin canvas to get the best results from our skincare routine. That’s why they developed their 7 in 1 Solution Black Clay Mask, which has become a best-selling item in China and Korea.

There are also multiple moisturizing ingredients which are allantoin, extracts of mulberry, pasqueflower, and purslane. Three brightening ingredients are also there which are Niacinamide, Morus Alba Leaf Extract, and Morus Alba Fruit Extract. This black clay mask is free from paraben, sulfate, alcohol, and silicone if any of these is your concern(s).

As this is my first ever clay sheet, it needs a bit of getting used to. On my first and second use, my nails kinda got black from the clay lol but afterwards as I slowly get the hang of it I became more careful when unfolding and I managed to prevent the black stain from getting under my nails.

It comes in two separate parts, the upper part and the lower part. There are two plastic separators: one is white and one is transparent. You need to remove the transparent one, place the sheet on your face, and carefully remove the white one. The sheet feels like a big nose pore strip and you need to let it dry before pulling it off your face. There are tiny holes on the sheet too

𝗔𝗱𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 4/5

Adheres wonderfully, I don’t need to lie down to make sure it didn’t slide and as a mother and a housewife I really appreciate that. I can go on doing what I’m doing without worrying about my mask sliding down. Just like a nose strip, it adheres stronger as it dries off.

𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 4/5

Fits fairly well but again, I needed a bit of getting used to this new concept.

One has to be careful when placing it on the nooks and crannies of nose to make sure it works effectively on that area. Once I got the hang of it, it clings nicely on the facial contours

Overall: 4/5

I use this mask after cleansing and toning. I prefer using a lightweight, hydrating toner before. If you have a dry skin, you might want to hydrate properly before using this one though. Well it legit feels like a giant nose strip minus the drying feeling after pulling it off. It feels so satisfying to pull it off as you can feel it drawing out all the gunks in your pores, leaving the skin feeling deeply cleansed.

I like that peeling it off is not painful at all unlike nose strip haha, skin doesn’t feel dry but a wee bit tight. It leaves some stain after using so you’d need to rinse it off and follow up with the rest of your routine. If your skin is oily and easily congested I would suggest using a gentle cleanser to properly remove all the stain before putting anything on the face again.

As for the brightening effect, I couldn’t really observe it on my skin even though I’ve used it five times for the first time (first box) and three times after (second box). It also stained my nails on first few uses even if I was careful so you might need to use a glove or something if you don’t like messy nails and hands.

All the weakness aside, I believe that this Black Clay Mask is a bit easier to use than conventional clay mask, especially the ones in powder form where you need to mix it yourself first, get the right consistency, and then applying to the face. For this one you just need to tear the pack open, take out the sheet mask, remove the plastic separator, put it on and voila!

My rate: 4/5

Would I repurchase? Yes if it’s on sale
