This Dr.Jou mask that I’m going to review is their soothing range, Dr Jou Six Essence Hyaluronic Acid Soothing Mask. The soothing and moisturizing mask is the most common of all and almost suitable for all skin types, it doesn’t matter you have oily, acne or dry skin. Soothing mask will always be your skin’s best friend. Dr.Jou is quite a new brand in the market, if you’re have not heard of this brand, they are actually under the same line as Dr.Morita, one of the famous hot selling mask and homegrown in Taiwan.
Still remember the time when I visit to Taiwan back in 2019, I just gone crazy by entering to their drugstores, so many masks to choose from and I was just so undecisive which to purchase. That time I did not really pay attention on this brand, in fact I bought a lot of Dr.Morita mask. I got to know this brand when Hermo was doing their crazy sales online. I was just randomly scrolling in their website and I spotted this mask which look quite promising to me. And I just got to know that they won a several awards as well.
This mask contains two special ingredients:
Squalane – It soothes skin and prevents irritation.
Hamamel (witch hazel) – Tightens pores, reduce inflamation
These are the few awards achieve by Dr Jou:
- Monde Selection Award 2017 and 2018 from the International Quality Institute, Belgium
- Average score of 87% from Cosme, the biggest cosmetic information network
- Best Selling Facial Mask in the Taiwan Watsons in the Health, Wellness and Beauty Awards 2017 and 2018
How to use:
Cleanse your face. Apply mask on the face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Remove and gently massage around the face area for the essence to be fully absorbed by the skin. Not necessary to rinse off. For best results, use it daily!
Most of the soothing masks that I have tested before, their essence is either watery or mucus-like looking essence. To me, this mask has a light mucus essence, its not really sticky though. I kept it in the refrigerator for about two hours before I slapped it on my face for a better cooling sensation and to reduce some puffiness on my mask. You’ll probably start jumping if it’s the first time having such a cold mask on your face. If you want a moderately cooling feeling, I would personally recommend storing this in the refrigerator rather than in the freezer.
I leave it on my face for a good 15 minutes and enjoyed my movie marathon. After removing it, I wipe off the extra essence left on my face. I love to do a quick rinse after masking because I just don’t like the residue left on my face. This mask is not sticky though, just for a sensitive skin like mine I prefer to wash off before I continue my skincare routine. I can see my skin was considerably calmed and soothed after the mask application. My pores shrunk and my skin appeared slightly brighter a bit, even my redness is reduced! If you’re hitting the beach or exposed to outdoor activities, I would recommend you tag this mask along to soothe your skin after that! It definitely helps.
