By now we have all known that vitamin C is not only good for the body but also for the skin. It is an ingredient thatโs good both topically and nutritionally. I started using vitamin C serum last year with Jumiso. This year I got to try Neogen and it gives quite an impression to me.

According to the box, the actives in this serum are Vitamin C 10% and Vita C Acerola-plex 12%. I love that the second ingredient is Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate because it is a stable form of vitamin c so it means less risk for irritation. This serum also contains niacinamide (itโs the 5th ingredient so the percentage is quite high?) citrus fruit extracts and vitamin complex (Vitamin E, Vitamin B5) that all work together to brighten and firm the appearance of skin for healthy-looking complexion. According to Neogen, this vitamin C serum helps produce collagen synthesis, protect skin from oxidative damages, improve appearance of fragile and dull skin and also prevents skin from further troubles and breakouts.
Texture and Smell
The smell is not strong nor distinctive so I have to sniff closely to detect the light citrusy scent.
This is a very pale yellow serum, feels quite lightweight with some viscosity to it but itโs only a bit thicker than water.
My skin feels a little tacky at first as I spread it on the face but the finish is not sticky at all. It has a bit of a slip and leaves no filmy residue. It dries off semi matte so you need to add hydration to this if you have a super dry skin. I donโt expect this serum to be hydrating too because I can always use a hydrating toner or moisturiser with it.

First and foremost, the formulation and the texture really wowed me. The fact that they use a stable form of vitamin c but also include ascorbic acid is something that I find really great and shows how they are trying to reach a balance between efficacy and skin-friendliness. There are also barrier-friendly ingredients in this such as panthenol and hyaluronic acid. It is hard to achieve a well-balanced formulation so when they come up with this concoction it really impresses me.
So glad that this doesnโt irritate me at all. I experience no bad reaction to this, not even any redness or drying effect. I love how it sinks in completely with no residue, making it easy to layer other products after. I have no worries about having to use heavy moisturiser or products. I also use this both in the AM and PM. I use this AM and PM, thereโs no burn or tanned effect observed like how some people feared but this is me. I canโt say so for other people because each individual skin is not the same.
I have been using it for a month now and I love how it evens out my complexion, enhances glow, and make my face look more awake. My acne are kept at bay too even though I still get a few pustules on my period.
As for the scars, I can see that both old and fresh scars are still there. For dark brown scars (old ones) they still seem the same to me but for red scars (new ones) some have vanished while most are a lot lightened. I am so excited to observe how this performs in longer use in the future and I will update on this post.
This is also great for both minimal and longer routines because it layers well with all of my products without any pilling or pore-clogging effect.
