REVIEW | Jumiso Yes, I Am Toner AHA 5%

Jumiso was once known by the name Hello Skin before they rebranded, but that doesn’t change the fact that they did produced some of the highly raved skincare products among Korean skincare enthusiasts. The hyped products range from toners to serum and their sheet masks. And today, I’m going to pour my thoughts on their exfoliating toner, the Jumiso Yes I Am Toner with 5% AHA.

As the name suggests, you already know it when you see the AHA 5%. Yes, it is very straightforward and I like how they named their products which makes it easy for users (both new users and skincare lovers) to identify the categories straight away (and not some lengthy, draggy names).

The packaging/ content:

Came in a cylindrical frosty plastic bottle with a twist cap, the design of the product is also very minimal and simple but elegant I would say. All the writing/ label are written in bright blue which makes it easier to read them.

This toner is colorless, has watery texture and minimal sweet scent to it. I recommend to use exfoliating cotton pad to go with this  toner but normal ones would do the job too.

The ingredients:

Key ingredients listed below include both glycolic acid and lactic acid which act as exfoliator to effectively removes dead skin cells. The removal of dead skin cells can help to improve the overall complexion hence giving the skin a healthy glow to it.

Water, Propanediol, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate, Lactobacillus Ferment, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Sophora japonica Flower Extract, Saccharomyces/Rice Ferment Filtrate, Panthenol, Allan-toin, Backhousia Citriodora Leaf Oil (Lemon Myrtle) , Sea Water, Benzyl Glycol, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Ethyl-hexylglycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Tocopherol, Raspberry Ketone.

Whilst the exfoliator exfoliates the skin, both Panthenol (hydrate, brightens and revitalizes the skin) and Lemon Myrtle (balance the oil-water in the skin and nourish damaged skin) work together to provide the skin with hydration and nourishment that it needs. The dual exfoliating-hydrating components in this toner make sure that it mildly exfoliate and making sure that it doesn’t dry out the skin.

My thoughts:

Initially, I didn’t feel like I need another exfoliating toner since my skin already got used to high percentage exfoliants which is the CosRX 7 AHA Whitehead Liquid which is quite a strong exfoliator for my skin. And it did not has any significant outcome to my skin plus I dislike the tacky feeling it gave to my skin whenever I used it. Therefore, I only used it for areas besides my skin (e.g. neck, armpits, knee, elbow etc).

But I came to use it anyway whenever I don’t feel like wanting to do any extensive and lengthy routines, just exfoliate-cleanser-toner-moisturizer. And eventually, it did worked out though only minimal exfoliating effect to my skin.

Since my skin is used to strong acids (chemical exfoliator), I didn’t feel any tingling or burning sensation when I applied it to my skin. But for those who is new to skincare and wants to explore chemical exfoliators, this toner is a decent chemical exfoliator for you to experience. If one still scared of using acids, you can simply apply hydrating toner to your skin before using the exfoliating toner. This routine will help to reduce or tone down any tingling sensation that you might feel.

Give chemical exfoliators a try and you’ll be amazed by the results it’ll bring to your skin (YMMV and don’t forget to patch test first!).
