REVIEW | Loreal Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW?

I believe that everybody longs to have poreless, smooth skin. Unfortunately, we cannot makes pores to just disappear. The appearance of our pores are determined by genetics, skin type and skin elasticity. Normally people with oily skin have large pores due to high level of sebum (oil) production. Skincare and aesthetic treatments can only make pores to be less visible. I have quite large pores and that is one of my insecurities especially when applying foundation. Some foundation sinks into my pores and my makeup will look crusty and not smooth. I also avoid shimmer blush as this blush can emphasize my pores.

However, I found out that there is a trick to make my pores less visible: by using a primer! Which primer should you use? Look for primer that has the word ‘mattifying’ because usually this kind of primer has Dimethicone, ingredients that can create a smooth flawless finish to our skin.

Then I found out about this primer from Loreal. It is called Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer.

BASE MAGIQUE transforming smoothing primer instantly smooths pores and creates an even surface, so that you get a more flawless make-up result that lasts.
The silky, lightweight formula glides onto skin and minimises the look of pores and fine lines to transform your skin surface.

Thanks to a high concentration of elastomers, L’Oréal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer gives skin an incredibly even surface with fine lines and pores erased. The formula also contains soft powders to help absorb sebum, thereby mattifying the skin to reduce shine.

The finishing touch? Smooth to the touch and with a silk-like feel, silicon oil enables easy-gliding application with no greasy residue. Base Magique will guarantee a more perfect and longer-lasting make-up every time.

TEXTURE & FINISH

It has very pale pink color and has velvety texture. Quite difficult to scoop out the product because it is quite slippery.

INGREDIENTS

Cyclohexasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Acrylates Copolymer, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Aluminum Hydroxide, [+/- May Contain: Ci 77891 / Titanium Dioxide, Ci 77491 / Iron Oxides] (F.I.L. B30587/1)

When looking at the ingredients list, there are 3 types of silicone used in this product so no wonder this primer have velvety texture and gives film like layer on skin.

APPLICATION

Based on the direction, you need to rub the product first between your finger before spreading on your face. This step will make application much easier compare to applying directly on your face.

PERFORMANCE

I just want to say that this primer did an amazing job in blurring my pores. Just look at the side by side comparison image. This primer works by mattifying my skin thus, my pores will be blurred out.  This primer is recommended for those who has oily skin and large pores. I heard some opinions that said silicone primer can cause foundation to slide off and hard to stick on skin. For me, it depends on the formulation of the primer. My foundation blends effortlessly when using this primer. Does this primer prolong my foundation wear time? I dont think so. I just noticed that my foundation look smooth and does not settle in my pores. I can put on shimmery blush without emphasizing my pores.

I dont experience any breakouts after using this primer because some said that this kind of primer ‘clog’ pores. Maybe I am used to double cleanse my skin. Other trick that I learnt, just apply this primer only on targeted area on your face ; oilier side and pores. Little goes a long way, dont use too much because it feel quite thick on skin and when blending foundation, it may slides together with the primer.
