Hailed as a new-age moisturising powerhouse, Beta-Glucan is often considered a great alternative for those sensitive to ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid (HA). As I have had my share of unpleasant experiences with high concentrations of HA in skincare (mostly it causes clogged pores) this claim definitely intrigued me! So, without further ado, let’s see if it’s as good as it claims, yes?
This cream can help to moisturise dry skin and improve skin barrier function with 3000mg Beta-Glucan, natural moisturiser from mushroom, Centella Asiatica Extract and Red Fruits Complex (Prunus, Raspberry, Strawberry, Peach, Punica).

HOW TO USE:
After using basic toner, apply suitable amount of cream and rub along skin texture from inside to outside, letting it absorb into the skin.
Mild cosmetic scent… maybe a mix between coconut and glue? 😂 Overall, not that noticeable I feel. Suitable for sensitive noses!
Light to moderate gel-cream texture which glides onto the skin easily, leaving a highly moisturised, matte finish. Does have a bit of a “film” which means that it does work better as an occlusive-type moisturiser.
MY SKIN TYPE:
Sensitive (prone to redness and irritation), combination-dry, acne-prone and dehydrated.
OVERALL THOUGHTS & EXPERIENCE:
Not gonna lie, I had very high expectations for iUNIK’S Beta-Glucan Daily Moisture Cream, mostly due to so many rave reviews of other skincare enthusiasts’ claiming that it’s their top pick for an HA-free moisturiser!
Unfortunately, I have to say that I found this a bit suffocating for my clog-prone skin – even more so as I feel like it makes me sweat more than usual. Which is not great, considering we live in such a humid environment… It’s a similar feeling I get with products that include Mineral Oil/Paraffin, even though I don’t spot any of those in the ingredients list. Weird, right?
Anyway, I do like how moisturising it is, even if I just use a small amount of it. And I do think those with truly dry skin types or those living in dry/cold climates would enjoy this more! Just, for me, I don’t think it’s worth it, and I’ll probably pass it on. I do commend iUNIK for always trying their best to provide great innovative products, though!
